Merchants. One of my favorite spots in Nashville, certainly on Broadway, this space was the inspiration for our kitchen.
Truth: I fell WAY short of replicating, or even coming close to pulling off this space in our home, but you will see how their space inspired ours.
Black. White. Metals. Marble. Patterns. Patina. Wall molding. Mix. Match. Repeat.
Love this marble tile. Considered it for our floor. Budget did not allow.
Patterns.
Patina’d Metals.
Will share how the bar translated in an upcoming post.
Used more white than black. Considering black lacquer for bottom cabinets.
Or for pantry.
Calcutta marble = splurge.
Mixing metals. More is better.
Patina-aging is ok.
i am totally. Completely. Unworthy of this range.
That includes the hood.
Lighting. My favorite accessory.
Patterns.
Vintage medicine cabinet. Happy find.
Few thoughts on kitchen design: whether you are a tremendous cook or, like me, cooking is a form of survival, the kitchen truly sets the tone of the home. I love coming into this space. It inspires me to cook. The bar has been raised, fingers crossed, this new season in my life will compel me to give Giada a run for her money. Nope, kidding, just hoping to make some great meals here..series on that upcoming..!
Thank you Merchants. By the way, make sure you order their dry-rubbed wings + dark & stormy = great date night.

Colleen, I love what you did with your kitchen. So bright and airy, yet not bland in the least. The surfaces, appliances, and accessories complement each other so well and there is a ton of visual interest. Exceptional job!
Thanks so much, Beau! Means a lot coming from you, as you have “the eye”! Appreciate your kind words. Congrats on Sax Man!!!
Love your photos! Love reading what is going on! Keep it up sista.

Love, love your kitchen and also Merchants! I would love to know where I would be able to purchase the cabinet hardware. Thanks!
Hi Beth!
Thanks so much! They are made by Colonial Bronze Company, truly amazing pieces. They are not lacquered, so they will patina rather quickly. Hope this helps!!
